Yaacov Agam is the 2026 Israel Prize laureate for Visual Arts (painting, sculpture, photography).
The 2026 Israel Prize for Visual Arts, in the combined field of painting, sculpture, and photography, has been awarded to Yaacov Agam, the pioneering kinetic and op‑art artist. The prize committee emphasized that Agam “broke the boundaries of traditional visual art and pioneered new languages in kinetic art and op art,” highlighting his decades-long impact on Israeli and international art and his core notion of internal change within the artwork and from the viewer’s shifting perspective.
